The Surrey Eagles have traded former Vernon Vipers forward
Chase McMurphy to the Alberta Junior Hockey League Calgary Canucks. McMurphy will join former Vipers forward Josh Betinol who was recently traded to the Canucks on November 2nd 2014.
The Vipers acquired McMurphy on November 3rd 2013 from the AJHL Calgary Mustangs. Vernon sent forward Josh Betinol & future considerations to the Mustangs for McMurphy before sending McMurphy & future considerations (Devon Fordyce) to Surrey on January 6th 2014 for Brett Mulcahy and future considerations (Demico Hannoun & Ben Butcher). In 16 games with the Vipers McMurphy collected (5-goals-2-assists-7-points).

The Canucks completed a trade over the weekend. The Canuck send 19 year old defensemen Jordan Wiest and Owen Johnson to the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL in exchange for 20 year old forward Chase McMurphy and Future Consieerations. "We are thrilled to be able to add a player like Chase to our line up. He is an exceptional hockey player with a very high skill set." said Head Coach Ryan Barrett. McMurphy is committed to the University of Alaksa, Fairbanks for the 2015-16 season.
The Canucks are back in action tonight in Olds, and then again on Thursday where they will renew the cross town rivalry with the Calgary Mustangs at Father David Bauer. Game time on Thursday is 7:30
