Day 2 From Vipers Training Camp:

I couldnt make the first day of the Vipers Training camp yesterday, as it ended before I was off work.  I made it down to the rink tonight after work catching the final two periods between Team Blue & Team White's intersquad game.  Team White won 9-5.  Team White lead 3-0 after the opening period and 7-3 after two periods of play before coming away with the 9-5 victory.

Here are the players that I thought that stood out tonight

Jason Bird (93)  Returning for a second season with the Vipers was picked up last season after being released by the Coquitlam Express.  Bird looked very solid at both ends of the rink tonight.  Moving the puck well, skating well and getting off lots of rubber towards the net.  Was involved in the play alot.

Blake Waldersen (94)  Was another kid who played well on the blueline.  Good skater and moved the puck well.

Adam Nanji (93)  One of my friends was at camp yesterday and told me to watch this kid tonight. This kid is very quick, moves the puck well, good hands and play maker.  Made a few real nice plays tonight setting up atleast two goals with some nice passing plays.  The only problem is he is a 20 yr old and the Vipers are at the league limit (six) with twenty year olds.  The Vipers coaching staff is going to have some tough decissions to make after this week as Nanji was one of the better players in tonights game.

Matty Saharchuk (95)  Scored twice and played very well along side Adam Nanji.

Ryan Renz (93)  Returning for his third season with the Vipers Renz played solid on the backend.  Made a real nice play in close, going in and out through several players before being stopped in close by Harrison Whitlock.

Dexter Dancs (95)  Returning for his second year in Vernon scored twice looking good up front.

Cole Golka (94)  Played with an edge all game, getting involed in the physical play and getting involved in a few scrums after the whistle.  Wasnt afriad to get in the greasy area's and compete for the loose pucks.

Gunnar Neilson (97)  Played very well between the pipes for Team White.  Made two big back to back saves in close in the 2nd on two quick shots right after one another.  Looked confident and played well tonight coming away with the win.
