Former Viper Collins Selected As The Pro Ambitions Rookie Of The Month:

Former Vernon Vipers forward, Mike Collins was named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Monday, January 31st 2011. On Tuesday, February 1st Collins was selected as the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month. Collins played two season's in Vernon (2008-2010).

Da Costa, Collins Earn Hockey East Monthly Honors

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Stephane Da Costa (Paris, France) was named the Hockey East Athletic Republic Co-Player of the Month Tuesday, while Mike Collins (Boston, MA) was selected as the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month.

Da Costa tallied 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) in eight games, highlighted by five multi-point efforts, including three three-point games. The sophomore, ranked third in Hockey East with 32 points, scored three power-play goals, while firing 33 shots and posting a +3 rating.

Collins, named Rookie of the Week on Monday, notched 11 points in January (six goals, five assists), including his first career hat trick and a four-point effort against Vermont on Saturday. He recorded four multi-point games, while scoring three power play goals.

Merrimack’s January was historic, as the Warriors won seven of eight games, most in a month in its Division I Hockey East history.

Ranked 12th nationally, Merrimack (15-5-4, 9-5-3 HEA) visits Northeastern Friday before hosting UMass Saturday at Lawler Arena.
