Vernon Vipers netminder Andrew Hammond has been named the British Columbia Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending March 29th, the league announced Monday.
Hammond recorded three victories last week in his team's six-game Interior Conference Final series win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, including two shutouts and a pair of first star performances.
In total, the 20-year old posted a 3-1 record, a goals-against average of 1.00 and a .969 save-percentage in four games.
Hammond was the recipient of the BCHL's Top Goaltender Award this season after leading all netminders with a 2.30 GAA during the regular season while compiling a 27-12-1 record.
The Vipers are now awaiting the winner of the Coastal Conference Final in order to determine their opponent for the Fred Page Cup, which begins Friday at the home of the Coastal winner.
