Vernon Vipers goaltender Andrew Hammond has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending April 5th, the league announced Monday.
Hammond won the award for the second consecutive week after posting a pair of shutouts in the first two games of the Fred Page Cup Finals.
On Friday, the White Rock, B.C. native stopped 23 shots and earned second star honours in a 4-0 win over Powell River. One night later, he turned aside 32 shots and was named the game's first star in a 3-0 victory.
In total, Hammond has started 13 playoff games, winning 10. His postseason totals include a 1.36 goals-against average and a .952 save-percentage. He has recorded four shutouts, all in the last six games.
Hammond and the Vipers return to the ice on Tuesday when they host the Kings in Game 3 of the Fred Page Cup Finals. Face off is set for 7:00 PM from the Wesbild Centre in Vernon.
