Vernon Lakers made their third straight National Championship, winning back to back Centennial Cups with a 8-4 victory over the Sudbury Cubs in Sudbury, Ontario

The Vernon Lakers were one of seven different team names Vernon's junior hockey team had since joining the league in 1961. The Vernon Lakers were around from 1980-1995 before changing their name to the Vernon Vipers in 1995.
