Reading Royals Sign Vipers Alumni Robertson:

The East Coast Hockey League Reading Royals have signed former Vernon Vipers defenceman Sean Robertson.

Robertson started the season with the Royals, signing a tryout agreement September 29th 2017 attended the Royals training camp never played a game before being released, signed with the Southern Professional Hockey League Fayetteville Marksmen in mid October. Robertson played just one game with the Marksmen collecting two assists was either traded or released before signing with Reading October 26 2017 for a second time this season.

Robertson spent last season with the East Coast Hockey League Utah Grizzlies & Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) Fayetteville FireAntz.

Robertson played In 11 games with Merrimack College during the 2012-13 season before leaving for the University of Guelph. Robertson spent his first six seasons playing for the Victoria Grizzlies before being traded to Vernon in his final year of Junior hockey. On December 12th 2011 the Vipers traded Zach McPhee and future considerations to Victoria for Robertson.  In 31 games with the Vipers Robertson collected (0-goals-4-assists-4-points).

Swavely loaned to Royals, Robertson signs contract

Royals host Toledo tonight at 7 p.m.

Reading, PA – Forward Steven Swavely has been loaned to the Reading Royals from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL) and defenseman Sean Robertson has signed an ECHL Standard Player Contract with Reading, the team announced Thursday. Swavely will wear #12 and Robertson will don #55.

Swavely, a native of Reading, PA, generated 18 goals and 39 points with the Royals last season. He has registered an assist in two games with Lehigh Valley this year. The former University of Maine Captain is in his second professional season.

Robertson was in training camp with the Royals on a tryout agreement. He started the season Fayetteville (SPHL) and had a goal and two points in his only game. He has seven games of ECHL experience and played with Utah last season.

Reading plays its third straight home game Thursday at 7 p.m. against Toledo. Thursday’s game is a postgame photo and autograph session with four Royals players, courtesy of Rieck’s Printing. The Royals complete a four-game home stand this Sunday, Oct. 29 at 4:00 p.m. against Adirondack. It’s a Halloween Game, featuring dollar-dog day, special Halloween jerseys, a Halloween costume contest and a team photo giveaway to the first 2,500 fans, brought to you by Rieck’s Printing.
