Vipers HHOF – #15 Kellen Jones
Posted by HockeyTube on Aug 14th, 2016
#15 Kellen Jones played for the BCHL Vernon Vipers between the 2006 and 2010 season and now becomes the 5th person to be inducted into the Viper’s ‘Highlight Hall Of Fame’ alongside his brother Connor who was inducted earlier this month. Let’s be serious…you can’t have one Jones twin without the other! In fact while Connor might have scored more goals than Kellen, it was only because #15 was one the setting up most of Connor’s goals.
Kellen was not only one of the team’s best play makers but he also went into the dirty zones to score goals never afraid to take a hit to score a big goal. He like his brother were fantastic on the fore check and made it difficult on the oppositions defence. As you’ll see in the video lots of players were hit on the end boards.
Jones helped the Vipers win a pair of back to back RBC National Championships in 2009 and 2010. He along with his brother earned scholarships to NCAA Quinnipiac. Following an extremely successful college career, Kellen will be joining his brother Connor on the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Jones is the fifth former Viper to be inducted into the unofficial Vernon Vipers Highlight Hall Of Fame.
The first was long time captain #18 Chris Crowell. Crowell played four season's in Vernon (2005-2009) winning the 2009 National Championship in his final year with the Vipers. Crowell holds the club record for most franchise penalty minutes. Crowell was the second Viper to have his jersey retired in team history.
The second former Viper to be inducted into the unofficial Vernon Vipers Highlight Hall Of Fame, is #1 Andrew Hammond. Hammond is now playing goal with the Ottawa Senators, played two season's in Vernon (2007-2009) winning the 2009 Royal Bank Cup in his final year of Junior hockey.
The third former Viper to be inducted into the unofficial Vernon Vipers Highlight Hall Of Fame, is #21 Kevin Kraus. Kraus is in his third season as Assistant Coach with the Vipers played three seasons in Vernon (2007-2010), was captain of the 2010 Vipers Royal Bank Cup winning team.
The fourth former Viper to be inducted into the unofficial Vernon Vipers Highlight Hall Of Fame, is #10 Connor Jones (Kellen's twin brother) is in his second season with the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Connor played four season's in Vernon (2006-2010) won back to back National Championships with the Vipers in 2009 & 2010.
