The Chilliwack Chiefs have traded former Vernon Vipers
defenceman Mitchell Oliver to the Alberta Junior Hockey League Bonnyville Pontiacs and signed former Vernon Vipers goaltender Brendan Barry.
Oliver was in his third season with the Vipers before being traded to Chilliwack October 15th 2016. In 118 games with the Vipers Oliver collected (7-goals-32-assists-39-points).

Barry played last season with the Penticton Vees & Vernon Vipers. The Vees sent Barry home September 12th 2015 for violation of team policy, was later released after playing in just one game with Penticton. The Vipers signed Barry October 1st 2015 played in 13 games with the Vipers last season going 4-6 posting a 4.24 GAA. Barry was a no show at Vipers training camp in August, was released before signing with the Nanaimo Clippers August 22nd 2016. Barry played one game this season with Nanaimo before no longer being listed on the Clippers roster. Barry was taken off the Clippers roster after Nanaimo acquired goaltender Evan DeBrouwer from the Smith Falls Bears September 15th 2016. No official word if Barry was released or traded.

Chiefs make series of roster moves

The Chiefs made a series of roster moves today involving seven players.
In the first transaction the Chiefs acquired defenseman Mitchell Oliver (1997) from the Vernon Vipers in exchange for forward Jesse Lansdell (1998).
The Chiefs then acquired forward Josh Borynec (1998) from the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in exchange for Oliver and goaltender Robert Jacobson (1997).
In the third transaction of the day, the Chiefs acquired forward Justin Dixson (1998) from the Tri City Storm of the United States Hockey League in exchange for future considerations.
The Chiefs also signed free agent goaltender Brendan Barry (1997) and released forward David Jankowski (1997).
Dixson and Barry are expected to be available for this weekend’s games.
