Silverbacks Give Former Vernon Laker-Viper Troy Mick Contract Extension:

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have given former Vernon Lakers-Vernon
Vipers forward, Assistant Coach and Head Coach-GM Troy Mick a new five year contract extension.

Mick played two seasons with the Vernon Lakers (1984-1986) before playing with the Merritt Warriors was also an Assistant Coach with the Vernon Lakers for two seasons (1993-1995) & spent one season with the Vernon Vipers (1995-1996) before being named the Vipers Head Coach-GM the following season. Mick was Head Coach-GM of the Vipers for four years (1996-2000) before returning to the Vipers as GM for two years (2005-2007). Mick was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in round 7 #130 overall at the 1988 NHL Entry Draft.

The Board of Directors of Salmon Arm Sports Inc. are pleased to announce a five-year contract extension for team President and General Manager Troy Mick.

We are very happy to have agreed to a contract extension with Troy for multiple seasons. Troy is an energetic, accomplished and experienced hockey professional who has instilled a culture of hard work throughout our organization.

Troy and his coaching staff work in a unique and demanding hockey market and the team's success over the last few seasons is a reflection of his excellent work. This decision reflects our desire for stability and consistency within our franchise.

Troy Mick has proven himself as a leader who achieves success whether as a player or coach and has now demonstrated the same ability to succeed as a President and General Manager.
