The Vancouver Canucks would like to congratulate the Vernon Vipers on winning the Junior A BC Hockey Championship and a recipient of the Canucks Silver Skate Award.

Working in partnership with BC Hockey, the Canucks Silver Skate Award is a Canucks Centre for BC Hockey initiative which recognizes the Vernon Vipers success and efforts.

The Canucks Silver Skate Award is a tribute to the passion and dedication of hockey’s parents, coaches, volunteers, and players. Their commitment to team work, fun and excellence is an inspiration.

By demonstrating attributes such as fair play, respect, and perseverance, the Vernon Vipers help to instil these values in British Columbia’s young athletes. This plays an important role in sending them on a positive path to success as adults.

I am very proud to be part of the team that supports minor hockey in this province. On behalf of our players, coaching staff, alumni and employees at the Vancouver Canucks we send “job well done” in honour your team’s dedication and talent executed in the 2008/09 season. – Mike Gillis

The Canucks Silver Skate Awards will be presented on Saturday, June 20 during the 2009 BC Hockey Annual General Meeting.
