Vipers Add Experience, Toughness & Grit To Blueline:

So far the Vipers have pulled off the biggest trade before the BCHL trade deadline. The Vipers had a very young defence, and needed to add some size, and toughness-grit along with veteran experience to the blueline. I really like this deal, this trade or trades will help and improve an already strong Vernon hockey club. Almost everyone including myself was saying the Vipers needed to add a veteran d-man before the deadline, wich they now have added two. I thought before today the team needed a veteran d-man and a big power forward or goal scorer up front. The Vipers have some young future prospects, inwich Im sure alot of teams were after, it all comes down to whos avaliable and who the other team wants in return. The Vipers are now finished with trades, using up there final two cards. I dont think Vernon fans can complain with the deals that were done today. This is by far Mark Ferners biggest trade-trades he has pulled off since being GM of the Vipers.

Cameron Brodie

Brodie is joining his 6th BCHL team, Brodie will add size, experience and some needed toughness and grit to the Vipers blueline. Brodie has been in the league since 2004 playing with Surrey, Langley, Trail, Merritt and Burnaby. Id like to welcome Cameron to Vernon and am looking forward to watching him in a Vipers uniform.

Mike Leidl

Leidl is joining his 4th BCHL team and also has been in the league since 2004 playing three seasons with Williams Lake, Quesnel and also Burnaby. Leidl also will add some size, gritt and toughness to the Vipers backend, Leidl adds a ton of experience to now a veteran Vipers defence. Id like to welcome Mike to Vernon and also look forward to watching him play his final year of Junior hockey. As of now we dont know the final details in this trade, so far veteran John Digness is the lone Viper heading to the Express. It will be interesting to see what other futures-players will be heading to Burnaby in the near future? Burnaby is getting a fine young hockey player in John Digness.

Digness was recruited by the Vipers and has not dissapointed. Digness has been one of my favorite Vipers in his two seasons here in Vernon, John always plays with his heart on his sleve, giving it 100% every shift. Digness plays a very special role on the Vipers, great on the penalty kill, as one of Vernons best penalty killers. John plays with alot of hustle and gives it his all. Digness will be missed alot, Id like to thank John for two great years in a Vipers uniform. All the best in Burnaby John!

Steve Tresierra

Im guessing has been traded to Merritt as a part of the futures deal, back in the Graeme Gordon trade earlier this season. Tresierra was called up last year as an "AP" for Vernon playing in some games, and not looking out of place. The Vipers then signed Steve to a card and has been with Vernon ever since. Tresierra was named Assistant Captain this year, showing lots of improvement in his game. Ive always been a big fan of Steve's and will miss him on the Vipers blueline. Tresierra is quick, moves the puck well and a good skater. Id like to thank Steve for some great memories in a Vipers jersey, and wish him nothing but the best in Merritt. Its tough to see two great kids go. Im looking forward to watching Mike & Cameron play this weekend with the Vipers. With Tresierra now gone, who will be the Vipers new Assistant Captain?
