Talking with a reliable source today, I was told a former restaurant owner from Vernon has taken over all concessions and the beer gardens at Kal Tire Place. They will be keeping the beer gardens but a second beer gardens will be opening in the room where the previous beer gardens once was prior to 2014. The pizza/mini donbuts, coffee stand and shaved ice/candy stand are staying but all three concessions will have new people running them with new food items/options.
With the recent U13 lacrosse provincials concluded, which was a four day event from Thursday to Sunday, I was asked numerous times if the concessions would be open, they were not however. I directed everyone to the Safeway, DQ, Subway, A&W and many other food outlets in town. Lots of lost revenue this past weekend!
Good, about time. Maybe the city can pay someone to run a mop around regularly too.
Believe it or not but, I actually saw a person working at the arena mopping the isles between the seats at the recent Vernon Tigers lacrosse game Wednesday!
I went to a Vernon Tigers lacrosse game a couple of weeks ago, and was very surprised to see no concessions or beer gardens were open. A good size crowd was on hand, I'm sure they could have sold some food/drinks that night.
