Capitals Name Former Viper Bench Boss Vandekamp New Head Coach/GM:

The Cowichan Capitals have named former Vernon Vipers Head

Coach/GM Mike Vandekamp new Head Coach/GM.

This is Vandekamp's second go around with the Capitals. Vandekamp was Head Coach/GM with the Capitals from 2018-2020. Vandekamp spent the previous two seasons with the Alberta Junior Hockey League Grande Prairie Storm before parting ways over the summer. 

Vandekamp played three years of Junior hockey in Fort St. John and Prince George from 1990-1993 before getting into coaching in 1995. Vandekamp made his coaching debut with the Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League Fort St. John Huskies in 1995. Vandekamp coached in the BCHL, AJHL & WHL for fifteen seasons with five teams (Merritt, Vernon, Nanaimo, Prince George, Grande Prairie & Cowichan).

Vandekamp was Head Coach/GM of the Vernon Vipers from 2001-2005 before leaving for the Western Hockey League's Prince George Cougars.
