EHC Winterthur Sign Vipers Alumni Dancs:

EHC Winterthur has signed former Vernon Vipers forward Dexter Dancs.

EHC Winterthur is a Swiss professional ice hockey team who play in Winterthur in the canton of Zurich. They have played in the Swiss League (SL) since the 2015–16 season, the second tier of the main professional ice hockey leagues in Switzerland, behind the National League.

Dancs collected one assist in three games with EHC Winterthur.

Dancs started the 2019-20 season with the ECHL Rapid City Rush, his second season with the Rush. In 36 games this year collected (5-goals-10-assists-15-points).

Dancs finished his fourth year at University of Michigan before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Idaho Steelheads August 15th 2018.  Dancs started the 2018-19 season with the Steelheads went pointless in two games before being traded to the Manchester Monarchs October 25th 2018. Dancs collected four assists in 26 games with the Monarchs before being traded to the Rapid City Rush March 7th 2019.

Dancs played a season and a half with the Vipers (2012-2014) after coming over in a trade with the Penticton Vees.  On December 5th 2012 the Vipers traded Jedd Soleway to Penticton for Dexter Dancs.  In 44 games with the Vipers Dancs recorded (30-goals-53-assists-83-points).

Dancs scored one of the biggest goals in recent Vipers history, scored the overtime winner at the 2014 Royal Bank Cup in Vernon giving the Vipers a 3-2 overtime victory over the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, giving the Vipers a semi-final berth at the RBC Cup.

Canadian forward Dexter Dancs soon to join EHC Winterthur?

The injuries of Riley Brace and Tim Wieser forced the Swiss League team's hand in terms of finding reinforcement.

According to Der Landbote, EHC Winterthur has found a replacement for Riley Brace (out up to six weeks with an upper-body injury) in Dexter Dancs. The 24-year-old Canadian forward is supposed to join the team as soon as possible.

Dancs played four years of college hockey for the University of Michigan. Since 2018, he has played in ECHL, lastly for the Rapid City Rush. This season, he recorded five goals and nine assists in 35 games for the ECHL team.

Dexter Dancs to make his debut for Winterthur tonight

The Swiss League team officially confirms that they have signed the Canadian forward.

Dancs' contract is valid until the end of the 2019-20 season. He is already eligible to play in tonight's game and will thus make his debut in the game against the EVZ Academy.
