City Of Vernon Adds Former Vipers Captain Robinson As New Firefighter:

The City of Vernon has added four new full-time firefighters, one is former Vernon Vipers forward-captain David Robinson.

Robinson played four games as an "AP" with the Vipers during the 2006-07 season before joining the WHL Chilliwack Bruins.  Robinson spent three seasons with the Bruins before returning to Vernon in January joining the Vipers during the 2009-10 season.  Robinson would finish his final year of Junior hockey as captain of his hometown Vipers during the 2010-11 season. Robinson returned to Vernon after playing hockey with the University of Calgary, spent two seasons with the Vipers (2012-2014) as an Assistant Coach.

The City of Vernon has added four new full-time firefighters.

Joining Vernon Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) team are Ashton Sykes, Bryan Carter, Shawn Calder and Dave Robinson.

“These talented individuals bring a wide variety of experience and skills to VFRS and are a great addition to our team,” said Fire Chief David Lind.

The hiring of the new firefighters marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the eight-year strategic plan, which moves VFRS closer to a contemporary service model through a series of steps which will occur between 2018 and 2025.
