Third & Final Day Report From Vipers Spring Camp:

I have had season tickets for the past 28 years and been following Junior Hockey in Vernon for close to thirty five years. I have missed only three home games since the 1998-99 season. Here are my thought's from Spring Camp.

I stopped by Kal Tire Place this morning to catch the third and final day of Vipers Spring Prospects Camp. Each game-scrimmage consisted of two twenty five minute periods with a full ice clean in between periods. A penalty was an automatic penalty shot.

There was three games/scrimmages this morning. I missed the opening game between Team Black & Team Green.

In the second game/scrimmage of the morning saw Team Blue defeat Team Gold 5-1. A very scrambled game with not a lot of flow. Both teams having trouble getting any kind of traction. Lots of mistakes and turnovers through out the scrimmage. It was 2-1 for Team Blue after the 1st before scoring three more in the second frame. I missed some of the goals. Scoring three of the five goals for Team Blue were, Nic Bolin, Ethan O'Rouke and #17 who wasn't listed on the roster-lineup. Jonathan Holloway started in goal for Team Gold, while Koltin Dodge played the 2nd period. Keenan Rancier started in goal for Team Blue, while Kobe Grant played the second half of the scrimmage.

Players I thought stood out-played well

Team Blue:

Travis Szafrojn again impressed me today. Played well.

In the third and final game/scrimmage of the day saw Team White defeat Team Red 5-3. Team White took a 3-1 lead into the 2nd period before both teams scored two goals each in the 2nd period. This was a fairly entertaining scrimmage with some good chances at both ends of the rink. Scoring for Team White was, George Cathers, Noah Wagner, Aiden Jenner and Cale Sanders (2). Scoring for Team Red was, Jake McLean (2) & Brett Roloson. Ty Marcinkowski started in goal for Team White, played the entire game. Team White with just one goaltender today. Kaleb Mceachern started in goal for Team Red, while Geo Wilson played the 2nd period.

Players I thought stood out-played well

Team Red:

Jake McLean (2 goals) I thought has looked impressive all camp, scored twice, played well this morning. This kid has some quickness and can shoot the puck. Has some skill.

Hunter Beckett Is another kid that has played fairly well at camp this weekend.

Team White:

Ty Marcinkowski Made some big stops at times through out the contest.

Noah Wagner (1 goal) Looked pretty good today. Showed some intensity, hustled.

Aiden Jenner (1 goal) Impressed me at times over the weekend. Had another good game today.

Side Notes:

A much smaller crowd on hand this morning.

Didn't see as many Junior B coaches/scouts today

I was surprised to see just a small handful of Viper fans at camp this weekend.
