Former Vernon Vipers defenceman Nyjer Morgan traded his baseball bat for a hockey stick and had his "dream come true" Wednesday , February 1st 2012 when he practiced with his hometown team the San Jose Sharks. Morgan was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 33rd round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft. On September 1, 2007, Morgan made his major league debut for the Pirates against the Milwaukee Brewers as a late-season call-up. In 2009 Morgan was traded to the Washington Nationals before getting traded to the Milwaukee Brewers last March. Morgan played one season (1996-1997) as an "AP" with the Vipers.
