Former Viper Goaltender Hammond Named Papa Johns Athlete Of The Week:

Former Vernon Vipers goaltender, Andrew Hammond has been named Papa John's Athlete Of The Week. Hammond played two years in Vernon (2007-2009) after coming over in a trade with the Surrey Eagles. Hammond is in his third season with Bowling Green University.

Hammond, Rogers Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Andrew Hammond and women's basketball player Alexis Rogers.

Male Athlete of the Week

Andrew Hammond, a junior from Surrey, British Columbia, made 49 saves (18 Saturday and 31 Sunday) as the BGSU hockey team earned two shootout victories over No. 2 Ohio State. Hammond recorded a 1.39 goals against average with a .942 save percentage, winning both shootouts during the weekend.
