"Each team will be allowed a maximum of two non-North American players." Currently Viper players Edvin Nilsson is from Sweden and Jacub Galnor is from Czechia. If this is still the BCHL rule then which one will be moving on?
ReplyDeleteRule last year, A maximum of two players from outside of North America is permitted per team.
ReplyDeleteRussian and Belarussian players are temporarily not allowed due to the political situation in Russia.
I think they have increased the number of non North Americans allowed. They also increased the number of 20 year olds allowed. Both changes the result of the new NCAA Eligibility rules.
ReplyDeleteAlso this player will not count as a non North American player as he has been playing in North America for a number of years. This is the same situation as Suniev was for Penticton.
DeleteI guess when you only have six wins, you have to expect trades/roster moves as the team is still trying to improve there team/roster.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time in franchise history the Vipers will have a kid from Russia. Dolzhenko has some size and junior hockey experience. Not only is this kid big but he put up some good numbers last season and the year before playing in the North American Hockey League. This puts the Vipers with nine defencemen and there roster at 25 players.
The Snakes have been the busiest team this season making a ton of roster moves since the start of the season.
Since training camp thirteen players are no longer with the Vipers.

How many russians play for the NHL??? To be sure of ones facts perhaps contacting the president of our league would be in order regards russians being able to play in our league as something tells me lomicky would have looked into it before he made this move. Paul please make the call and let us fans know.
