BCHL Calls Emergency Board Of Governors Meeting:

Rick Dhaliwal along with several others have reported the BCHL has called an emergency board of governors meeting.

Here is the release from Rick Dhaliwal's X page,

Rick Dhaliwal on X: "The BCHL has lost a lot of players lately due to the NCAA rule change. Hearing the #BCHL has called an emergency board of governors meeting for tomorrow in Vancouver." / X

Here is the release from Jeff Marek's X page,

Jeff Marek on X: "Also, sounds like the BCHL owners are getting together to discuss next steps in the new reality of junior hockey with players jumping league to league." / X

Could we see Penticton, Nanaimo, Chilliwack & Brooks join the Western Hockey League?

Here is the release from Jim Rogers X page,

Jim Rogers on X: "@JeffMarek watch the Financially strong BCHL teams (Penticton - Chilliwack - Brooks - Nanaimo) join the WHL (depends on if they can Pay an expansion fee) while USHL teams will be eager to get into the OHL" / X

  1. Just you wait and see when the players who have signed NCAA deals find out that those signings aren't worth the paper that they are written on. They are now competing against far superior leagues with a huge number of players who will take those scholarships away from the BCHL league. It is unfortunate for the boys but I believe that if they want to keep their scholarships they will need to play against their competition in the WHL,OHL,QMJHL etc. A mass exodus is forthcoming....

  4. The BCHL got greedy and deserves to be in this situation.

  5. No one knows exactly how the change with NCAA will affect teams or players. All speculation at this point. No one deserves what is happening.

  6. Might be a good thing for Vernon. The competition should be depleted to a level the Vipers can compete with!

  7. BCHL Teams like Penticton, Brooks, Chilliwack, etc are despised by everyone in Hockey. They ran away from Hockey Canada because they thought they had more power than they did. They use shady recruiting methods and pay players cash under the table. NCAA knew this and punished them

    1. Bingo. This is the story no one tells. So much goes on behind the scenes.

  8. I feel bad for BCHL teams losing players to the Dub left right and center - mid season with no compensation.

Actually isn’t that what they have been doing to MJ, SJ and AJ teams?

    Nevermind….what goes around comes around

  9. It is reported that as of Nov 20th the Coastal Conference leading Chilliwack Chiefs have lost 6 of their players to the CHL, possibly the hardest hit so far. I feel sorry for the players as they are all affected by this situation. The BCHL was once one of the major feeder leagues for NCAA, prepping many high end players for the university level. How many players could now lose their scholarships and how many elite players will chose the BCHL in future? I think if the BCHL is to survive we could see the level of play drop significantly, possibly be comparable to current Junior B (Junior A?) level. I hope not but time will tell, the impacts of this will be long term.
