The Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) Stena Line Belfast Giants have signed former Vernon Vipers forward Hunter Bishop.
The Belfast Giants are an ice hockey team from Belfast, Northern Ireland that compete in the Elite Ice Hockey League.
Bishop spent the previous three years with the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (EBEL) HC Tiroler Wasserkraft Innsbruck Sharks. After playing two seasons at Ohio State University Bishop played four seasons in the American Hockey League & East Coast Hockey League with six different teams (Hamilton, Wheeling, South Carolina, Lake Erie, Rochester & Manchester) before heading overseas.
Bishop played parts of three seasons in Vernon (2005-2008). Bishop left the Vipers after two seasons and played in just four games at the University of North Dakota during the 2006-07 season before returning to Vernon during the Christmas break playing the remainder of the 2006-07 season. Bishop played his final season with the 2007-08 Vipers. In 140 regular season games with the Vipers Bishop collected (93-goals-84-assists-177-points). On March 18th 2010 the Montreal Canadiens signed Bishop as a free agent to a two year contract. Bishop attended the Habs training camp for three straight seasons.

Hunter Bishop Joins The Giants For 2018/19

The Stena Line Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the signing of Hunter Bishop for the 2018/19 season. The American forward arrives in Belfast from HC Innsbruck of the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL).
Bishop, who hails from Fairbanks, Alaska spent two years in the NCAA with Ohio State, grabbing 58 points (29 goals, 29 assists) in 75 total games before being called up by the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL for the remainder of the 2009/10 season.
Bishop appeared in 34 games with the Bulldogs in 2010/11 scoring four goals and four assists for eight points. He also spent time with the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers during his rookie season adding five points (two goals, three assists) in nine games.
Hunter signed with the South Carolina Stingrays in 2012/13, after missing 2011/12 with injury, and finished with 24 goals and 25 assists, good for 49 points in 48 games. That season he received AHL call-ups to Lake Erie Monsters, Rochester Americans and Manchester Monarchs.
Bishop remained with Manchester during 2013/14 and posted six goals and nine assists in 57 games before making the move to Europe for the first of four seasons.
Olimpija Ljubljana was Bishop’s first EBEL side as he posted 20 goals and 16 assists in 48 games for the Slovenian side. Bishop spent the next three seasons with HC Innsbruck and grabbed 67 goals and 42 assists in 151 games – helping his side to the playoffs in both 2016/17 and 2017/18.
