The owner of the Vernon Vipers is downplaying rumours about a pending sale of the BC Hockey League team.

Libby Wray tells Beach Radio News in an email, she has “no comment on the rumours,” but adds “people love to gossip.”

“We are preparing for the start of training camp and are looking forward to another exciting season of hockey,” says Mrs. Wray.

There has been rumours that a sale of the team may be imminent.

Mrs. Wray took over ownership of the team when her husband — Duncan Wray — died in January.

Duncan Wray bought the team in 1992 when it was the Vernon Lakers, changing the name to Vipers in 1995.

  1. An Announcement at the start of the regular season makes more sense. Also the leaque I believe has to show approval of the sale and that takes time. How much time before a sale in this leaque I am not sure. And as I said before a transfer of ownership after all the years that Duncan Wray owned the team will turn into an event , not something that will read in a newspaper or hear second hand. We will have to wait and see. I would like to add that if a sale doesnt happen than perhaps Libby should look at her staff and especially her promotional staff and think long and hard how to improve attendance. Loyalty is one thing but facts and fiqures are another. Have a Nice Day.
