Ex Vipers Goaltender Shortridge Named ECAC Rookie Of The Week:

Former Vernon Vipers goaltender Andrew Shortridge has been named the ECAC Rookie of the Week.

Shortridge is in his first season with Quinnipiac University after playing one season in Vernon (2015-16). In 44 games with the Vipers last season Shortridge went 19-25 with two shutouts posting a 3.15 GAA

HAMDEN, Connecticut - Quinnipiac men's ice hockey goalie Andrew Shortridge (Anchorage, Alaska) has been named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017. The freshman made 37 total saves over the weekend, and now has a .915 save percentage to go along with a 2.16 goals-against average so far in 2016-17.

Shortridge grabbed a pair of wins last weekend for the Bobcats against Yale and Brown, improving his individual record to 9-5-0 overall and 7-2-0 in ECAC Hockey action. He made 19 saves in Friday's 3-2 win over Yale, then 18 stops in Quinnipiac's 4-1 win vs. Brown.

In 14 conference games, the first-year goaltender has now allowed just 1.74 goals-per-game to go along with a .934 save percentage in between the pipes. He's made 101 saves over his last five games, allowing just 2.0 goals-per-contest.

Quinnipiac men's ice hockey is back in action this weekend, hosting Brown for a best-of-three series in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals at High Point Solutions Arena. Game 1 will be played on Friday, March 3 at 7 p.m., Game 2 on Saturday, March 4 at 7 p.m., and Game 3 (if necessary) on Sunday, March 5 at 4 p.m.
