BULLDOGS ADD KAILA TO DEFENSE

PRESS RELEASE

September 7, 2016

Port Alberni, BC – The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are pleased to announce the acquisition of defenseman Malik Kaila (Squamish, BC) from the Coquitlam Express in exchange for Future Considerations.

The veteran defender has played 131 games in the British Columbia Hockey League all with the Merritt Centennials and scored 20 points (1 goal, 19 assists, and 161 PIM) over his career. Kaila will add quality leadership and depth to the “new look” Bulldogs defense core.

“We are very excited to welcome Malik and his family to the team,” says Head Coach & GM Kevin Willison. “We have been looking to add a quality person with experience to our defense group and we believe Malik will fit in with our style of play.”

The Bulldogs also announce the signings of forward Justin Lee (North Vancouver, BC) from the Burnaby Winter Club of the Canadian Sports School Hockey League and defenseman Jarrod Isley (Grande Prairie, AB) from the Grande Prairie Storm Midget AAA program.

The Bulldogs open the regular season Friday, September 9th at 7pm in Nanaimo against the Clippers. The Bulldogs finished the pre-season with four straight wins and look to carry the momentum into the regular season.

“Although it was pre-season, we are definitely pleased with the growth of our team thus far,” says Willison. “We have a long way to go but our group is excited for the real season to begin on Friday against an always difficult Nanaimo team.”
