Former Viper Shiplo Named ECAC Rookie Of The Week:

Former Vernon Vipers defenceman Luke Shiplo has been named the ECAC Rookie of the Week.

Shiplo in his first season at Quinnipiac University played last year with the Vipers collecting (5-goals-39-assists-44-points) in 50 games.

QU Men's Ice Hockey's Luke Shiplo Named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week

ALBANY, New York - Quinnipiac men's ice hockey freshman Luke Shiplo (Oakville, Ontario) was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 as annouinced by the ECAC Hockey office.

This past week, Shiplo led all NCAA Division I and ECAC Hockey freshmen in goals (2), while also leading ECAC Hockey first-year players in points (2) and plus/minus (+2) last weekend. He scored his first-career goal against Connecticut on Tuesday, Nov. 14 before scoring the neutralizer in a 1-1 tie against nationally-ranked No. 20 Clarkson last Friday.

Shiplo is the second Bobcats freshman to earn Rookie of the Week honors after Thomas Aldworth was named the league's top rookie, and also earning Player of the Week honors, on Oct. 20, 2015.

Quinnipiac is back in action this weekend with a home-and-home series against the University of Massachusetts. The Bobcats and Minuteman will play in Amherst, Mass. on Friday, Nov. 27 before Quinnipiac hosts UMass on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m.
