Game Recap - "Parents Weekend" Vernon 1 Prince George 0
The Vernon Vipers improve to 31-19-1-0 after a 1-0 victory over the 15-33-3-0 Prince George Spruce Kings in front of 1,175 fans at the Kopar Memorial Arena in Prince George.
I watched tonight's Vipers/Spruce Kings game online. This game was intense and had a playoff like feel to it at times. Both teams tempers heated up with lots of pushing and shoving. Give the Spruce Kings credit as they were the better team, had more of an edge in play. PG had more puck possession, zone time and sustained pressure. For a team that's last in the Conference with only fifteen wins, they sure didn't play like it. The Snakes were outshot and outplayed at times. Vernon took way too many penalties, had trouble sustaining pressure in the offensive zone. The Vipers PK and Ethan David were the difference. I have said this often this season, where would the Vipers be if it wasn't for their goaltending? Ethan David & Colin Reay have kept this team in a lot of games this season. A huge win for the Vipers as Vernon moves to within two points of Salmon Arm and with Trail's loss, move seven points ahead of the Smoke Eaters. This also means the Vipers have clinched at least fourth place and home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs and a chance at catching 3rd place.
