Ethan Merner's Player Profile:

  1. Not really a surprise as Ethan's production for the Vipers last year based on his 5 min played per night was impressive. I looked and another 3 standouts that left are doing well Lee Parks in the USHL and Dylan Compton excelling for the 1st place Brooks and fresh off a Jr A Challenge Cup Win for Canada West! Luke Ashton in Langley is now putting up points regularily with his great shot from the point. Imagine what the Vipers would look like with these 4 impressive young players still on the roster! They obviously chose to head to teams that seen their value and are looking to develop young players to get them to the next level and not ride your 19 or 20 yr olds that don't have NCAA Div 1 Comittments already. There is a short window for these players and I don't blame them as you have to look out for yourself and go to a team that has a great coach that knows how to communicate with young players and let them make mistakes and develop them like the WHL does! Interesting that the NCAA Div 1 Teams see value in 3 of these young players and surely Luke Ashton soon yet the coaching staff doesn't! Clearly the owner is too involved and Jason is merely a puppet of him with great job security because of it!
