The Rivermen were the better team in the 1st and 2nd periods, controlled most of the play and had a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd period. Colton Eisner hit the post on a 3rd period breakaway, would have given Langley a 3-0 lead instead, the Vipers come back and get on the scoreboard and don't look back. Vernon with a strong 3rd period, outplayed the Rivermen, scoring three straight goals to come away with the come from behind 3-2 win. Langley should have never blown this game leading 2-0 in the 3rd.
This was a terrible game! Did the Vipers look at Langley's record and think they won the game before the game even started? Vernon looked bad and was outplayed in the first two periods. The costly mistakes and turnovers in their own end continue as this team struggles defensively. The Snakes continue to get outshot recently. The Vipers were lucky the Rivermen didn't get that third goal or that may have put the game away. Vernon finally shows up in the 3rd and controls most of the period, scoring three goals for the win.
The Vipers have what look like a good team on paper but on the ice, this team struggles and continues to make the same mistakes they were making at the start of the season. Vernon hasn't improved and is very inconsistent. The Vipers won both games at the Showcase but two games where they didn't play well and could have easily lost both games. The Vipers haven't looked very good this year, especially the last five games. This team is hard to watch on most nights with the mistakes and inconsistency. This team is starting to look a lot like last year's team.
Give Vernon some credit for playing a strong 3rd period and coming from behind to get the win. Lucky they played the worst team in the league, because when they play the top teams you get an 8-2 score like we saw Penticton beat us at home on Saturday.
Playing at 10 am was a challenge. I was at the game goaltending is definitely our strength let's give credit to the gutsy effort and certain players that had great games. It sure looked like Lavery found another gear and took over best game of the year for him! How about Ethan Merner this kid is 16 for only a few days 2 PP Assists against Alberni and then the Game Winner today and was on for all 3 goals in the 3rd yet not recording any points on the first 2 and carrying a 5 game point streak. Cleaves was clutch as well I really like his fame. Pak is a warrior and his blocked shots caught up to him in this game and had run and ice packs all over him mid game. He took some time off and came back fir the 3rd. Hard to figure out the coaching they had a great pp the day prior besides the goalie gaf on the Short Handed goal then today they take Merner off the not only the 1st pp unit but the 2nd as well when he had 2 nice Assists the day prior and 2nd leading scorer on the team a real head scratcher!
Oh, come on people, you have to give credit where credit is due, the Vipers coaching staff are unequivocally true geniuses, the absolute best in the world, period, enough said!!!
I watched today's game on my computer.
