  1. So, after going over some of these, I noticed many of the websites still have the Canadian Junior Hockey League logo and list them as an Affiliate Partner. I thought our league did not want anything to do with the CJHL. Is this an over site of all the webmasters of the teams or some sort of hint that maybe, just maybe, the league will join the CJHL again in the future?

  2. I hope they do rejoin cjhl as for the fans it is far more exciting to call yourself canadian champs opposed to BC champs like big deal and then the season is over. Maybe Fred H. Wants a change back to what it was. I hope.

  3. At the centre of the BCHL and Hockey Canada dispute is the interprovincial movement of Junior players. Major Junior controls Hockey Canada and Hockey Canada allows 16 and 17 year old players to move interprovincially, and even 15 year olds in exceptional cases as long as it is to a Major Junior team. (i.e. Connor Bedard) But Hockey Canada forbids 15, 16, and 17 year olds to move to a Junior A team.

There are a lot of really highly thought of players at 16 and 17, and their parents, who have ideas of going the NCAA route. But they can't move from an inferior league back east to the BCHL until they are 18. Major Junior uses this to try and force the better 16 and 17s to play Major Junior. The minute a player dresses for a Major Junior game, they forfeit any possibility of playing NCAA.

Fred has a lot of contacts back east, and so do other BCHL coaches and they like to bring some of those really good 16 and 17 year olds out west and guide them to the NCAA. But Major Junior and Hockey Canada say no.

  4. Thanks Bob for the information as it gives us a greater understanding of the question. WHY?? It now makes sense as a move to benefit the players opposed to someones ego run agenda as why change this is the way it is

  5. It is really cappy that the fans of the BCHL have not been given an explanation, seems to be a lack of respect from the BCHL to all the people how support this league.
