Vernon Vipers Alumni Gare Suffers Stroke:

Former Vernon Vipers forward Lanny Gare suffered a stroke during the

2021-22 hockey season.

Gare is in his seventh season with the Ver Selb Wolves. 

The Wolves are a professional Ice hockey team from Selb, Germany that play in the DEL2 Ice Hockey League.

Gare played four seasons at the University of New Hampshire from 1999-2003 before signing his first professional contract with the UHL Quad City Mallards in 2003. Gare played three seasons in the UHL, American Hockey League & ECHL with five different teams from 2003-2006 before playing in Denmark & Germany. 

Gare played two seasons in Vernon from 1997-1999. In 117 games with the Vipers, Gare collected (67-goals-107-assists-174-points).

Gare and the 1998-99 Vernon Vipers were selected into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame in July 2016. Gare's father played two seasons in Vernon from 1970-1972 with the Vernon Essos & was Head Coach for three seasons from 1986-1989 with the Vernon Lakers.

Gare is 11th on Vernon junior hockey's all-time point's list with 174 points & 12th on Vernon junior hockey's all-time assist's list with 107 assists & 16th on Vernon junior hockey's all-time goals list with 67 goals.
