Stapley is in his fourth season at the University of Denver. In 14 games this season, Stapley has (6-goals-9-assists-15-points).

Stapley attended the Montreal Canadiens development camp in June 2020. Stapley was drafted 190th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in round 7 of the 2018 NHL draft.

Stapley played three seasons in Vernon from 2015-2018. In 153 games with the Vipers, Stapley collected (47-goals-74-assists-121-points).
