The Detroit Red Wings decided not to renew the contract of former Vernon Vikings

forward Marty Stein. Stein agreed to a contract with the Buffalo Sabres as the teams new Western Canada Scout.

Stein has spent the past twenty four seasons as Amateur Scout with the Detroit Red Wings. 

Stein played two seasons in Vernon (1973-1975) with the Vernon Vikings. In two years with the Vernon Vikings Stein collected (38-goals-59-assists-97-points).
