Kelli Ewen the wife of former Vernon Lakers forward Todd Ewen battled the NHL in a

lawsuit back in 2019. After settling in May Ewen wants to become an advocate for wives and partners of other NHL players.

Todd Ewen passed away in 2015 at the age of 49. Ewen played eleven seasons in the NHL from 1986-1997 with four different teams (St. Louis, Montreal, San Jose & Anaheim) winning the Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1993. Ewen retired from hockey with the San Jose Sharks in 1997. Ewen played with former Vernon Vipers Head Coach/GM Mark Ferner as the two played together with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks from 1993-1995. Ewen was drafted in Round 8 168th over by the Edmonton Oilers at the 1984 NHL Draft.

Ewen played one season in Vernon with the 1982-83 Vernon Lakers. In 42 games with the Lakers, Ewen collected (14-goals-10-assists-24-points).
