Growlers Add Ex Vipers Forward Skirving To Teams Protected List:

The ECHL announced their protected list as submitted by each of its

member teams. This is the first of a several-step process in which ECHL teams use to reserve the rights to ECHL contracted players for the 2021-22 season. The ECHL Newfoundland Growlers have six players on their protected list. One of the six players listed is former Vernon Vipers forward Todd Skirving.

Here is the press release from the Newfoundland Growlers website,

Skirving didn't play hockey last season as the Growlers decided to opt out for the 2020-21 season under the ECHL's COVID-19 Voluntary Suspension Policy. Skirving spent last season with the BCHL expansion Cranbrook Bucks as an Assistant Coach. Skirving and the Bucks went 3-16-0-1 during the 2020-21 Pod season. Skirving will be entering his third season this year with the Growlers.

Skirving spent four years at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Orlando Solar Bears August 3rd 2017. Skirving spent the 2017-18 season with three different teams (Oralando, Utah & Atlanta) before signing with the Newfoundland Growlers October 16th 2018.

Skirving was recruited and committed to the Vernon Vipers for the 2010-11 season. The Vipers traded Skirving & future considerations to the Prince George Spruce Kings January 10th 2011 for Ryan Renz. In 34 games with the Vipers, Skirving collected (4-goals-5-assists-9-points).
