  1. I watched the Silverbacks/Vipers game on Hockey TV

The Vipers gave up the games first goal, something they seem to do this Pod season. Down 1-0 Salmon Arm could have took control of the hockey game early but a strong penalty kill by the Snakes before Tyler Carpendale ties the game late with seconds remaining in a fairly evenly matched 1st period. I thought the Silverbacks had a slight edge in play, but more so due to three power plays.

The Vipers had a heck of a 2nd period and were the better team at times. Vernon come out of the gates with a ton of jump/energy and played very well in the middle frame. Both teams were even at times but I thought the Snakes were a little better at times. Both goaltenders were solid this period.

Down a goal in a must win game for the Apes, Salmon Arm poured on the pressure in the final frame but some defensive play and solid goaltending from James Porter Jr and the Vipers hang on for the 3-1 victory clinching top spot and winning the Vernon Pod Championship. SA really stepped up their play in the 3rd but couldn't find the back of the net but it wasn't without chances and a solid effort. Both teams battled and played hard in the final twenty minutes.

The Vipers played a real good game this evening. This was a very entertaining and exciting hockey game. The Snakes PK was solid. James Porter Jr was the difference in goal and Vernon responded with some timely goals. I really like this years Vipers team Jason McKee has put together. If I'm correct it looks like the Vipers could get back 15 players for next year and have already committed to at least six or seven players for next season.

Nicholas Remissong, Trey Taylor, Reagan Milburn, Logan Lorenz, Cameron MacDinald, Ryan Shostak & James Porter Jr looked good and played very good for the Vernon Vipers.

In a playoff like game the Silverbacks played a very hard fought hockey game but couldn't solve James Porter Jr tonight. The TSN Turning point was in the first period with the Backs up a goal couldn't capitalize on a two man advantage. With the Vipers on their heels, a goal or two could have changed the outcome of tonight's game, instead Vernon's PK keeps this a one goal game before the Apes allow the Vipers to tie the game late in the dying seconds. Salmon Arm pushed hard in the 3rd but couldn't force overtime, played a heck of a game.

Cameron Recchi, Noah Serdachny, Simon Tassy, Sullivan Mack & Owen Say looked good and played very well for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

It's hard to believe the Pod season is coming to an end this weekend. The Vipers with only one game remaining. I have talked to a few Vipers fans who haven't been watching or following the team due to mean nothing games. I for myself have enjoyed watching the Vipers and following the team. I know these games don't mean anything for the fans, but I look at it as training camp. I'm watching the kids who will be back next season and the future Vipers and getting a good read on these kids and see what they can do and how they play.

Congratulations to the Vernon Vipers on clinching top spot in the Vernon Pod and winning the Vernon Pod Division. I wonder if the Vipers will get a banner?
