Rangers Fire Former Vernon Laker Oliver:

The New York Rangers have fired Assistant

Coach/former Vernon Lakers forward David Oliver.

Oliver has spent the past three seasons as an Assistant Coach with the New York Rangers.

Prior to joining the Rangers, Oliver spent the previous eleven seasons in the Colorado Avalanche organization with the Avalanche and American Hockey League Lake Erie Monsters.

After playing four years at the University of Michigan, Oliver played professional hockey for thirteen years in five different leagues (NHL, AHL, IHL, DEL & BNL) playing with twelve different teams from 1994-2007. (Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Pheonix Coyotes, Dallas Stars, Cape Breton Oilers, Houston Areos, Grand Rapid Griffins, Utah Grizzlies, Iowa Stars, Muchen Barons, Rogle BJ & Guidford Flames).

Oliver played two seasons in Vernon (1988-1990) with the Vernon Lakers. The Lakers changed the name to the Vernon Vipers in 1995. In 166 games with the Lakers, Oliver collected (92-goals-86-assists-178-points). Oliver was selected in the 7th Round 144th overall by the Edmonton Oilers at the 1991 NHL Entry Draft.
