  1. I watched the Silverbacks/Vipers game online this evening.

The Silverbacks who come into tonight's game having had yesterday off, jumped on Vernon early and often and it was all SA for the entire 1st period. The Vipers once again gave up the games first goal and have only opened the scoring twice this Pod season. The Snakes struggled, turned over pucks non stop as the Apes carried the play for the whole period. The Vipers were very lucky only to be down a goal after one period. Vernon played a hard fought game last night falling 2-1 in a shootout to West Kelowna and it showed tonight. Roan Clarke had to be sharp and was very solid between the pipes.

Vernon had a good start to the 2nd period and two very good back to back shifts where they tied the game before taking the lead on Tyler Carpendale's 4th goal of the Pod season. The Snakes looked a little better at times but I still thought Salmon Arm was the better of the two teams in the middle frame. The Silverbacks tie the game inside the final minute. Vernon's defence allowed Drew Bennett to burry the rebound past Roan Clarke who made the first stop.

Tyler Carpendale with his second of the game 1:10 into the final frame re-gave the Vipers the lead. Vernon would play their best period of the contest and score three 3rd period goals for the 5-3 victory. I thought the Snakes carried a lot of the play early and played well defensively down the stretch. Roan Clarke who didn't impress me in his Pod debut has improved and looked better as the games have gone one, looked very solid tonight in his best performance of the Pod season. The Silverbacks had some looks/chances allowed Vernon back in the game early and couldn't recover. A big 3rd period by the Snakes.

The Vipers played a tough game vs West Kelowna last night and it showed. Vernon was outplayed for the entire 1st period and at times in the 2nd period. The Vipers played a little better in the middle frame, seemed to get their legs going and stepped it up in the final twenty minutes. Vernon coughed up or turned over the puck in their own end or neutral zone way too many times tonight and were lucky to come away with the win. Let's hope this win will be some kind of character victory for this team and the team can build off it heading into back to back games on the weekend.

The Vipers have played four games in the past five days, will now get the next two days off before playing West Kelowna Friday.

Roan Clarke, Tyler Carpendale, Griffen Barr and Logan Lorenz looked good and played well for the Vernon Vipers.

The Silverbacks dominated the opening frame and could have easily been up by a few goals. Instead they allowed Vernon back in the game and couldn't recover. The Vipers have the Backs number this Pod season are 5-1 vs Salmon Arm. The Apes played hard in the 1st and most of the 2nd periods gave up the early goal to start the 3rd and couldn't recover surrendering the next two goals. SA's defence was big blocking a ton of shots this evening, played well.

Kieran Ruscheinski, Simon Tassy, Drew Bennett & Tucker Hartmann looked good and played well for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

  2. With no comments after any of the Vipers games this year, I'm curious if any Viper fans are listening or watching the games?

  3. VPHF - Just to let you know, some of us are watching the games. I for one have enjoyed them for the most part. We sure have had our ups and downs in terms of performance. I have also watched some of the "other pods" games for a change - we have been really hockey deprived this year. I will agree with you that watching all the games on tv is really not the same as being there live. There is a feeling at the arena that tv cannot duplicate. That being said, since this is what is available - it will do for now. I will say that since it is just "pod play" with no interaction with the rest of the league, that it really doesn't mean much of anything except to the players - some of whom are still working on a college spot and some are working on a roster spot for next season. I have enjoyed watching the "prospects" and there is some real potential talent out there. My hope is that come fall, we will be able to return to the arena to watch the games live. It will bring a new appreciation for what we can do and enjoy. Hopefully, we don't lose site of how fortunate we are to have a team that is competitive and fun to watch (most of the time - lol!). Keep on keeping us up to date. I for one really do appreciate it!

  4. Thanks Viper fan! During the 2019-20 season I was getting lots of comments after most Viper games but so far during this Pod season I haven't had any fans comment on the games. I was just wondering if fans were still following the team/watching or listening to the games.

Thanks for your comment and feel free to comment anytime! The more chatter on here makes things interesting and keeps fans coming back!

Thank you for visiting my blog and being a supporter, much appreciated!
