Minnesota Wild Recall Former Viper Hammond From Taxi Squad:

The Minnesota Wild have called up former Vernon

Vipers goaltender Andrew Hammond from the taxi squad.

Hammond is in his first season with the Wild after signing a one year two-way contract December 16th 2020. 

The Wild is Hammond's seventh team since 2017. This is Hammonds second go around with the Wild after Minnesota signed Hammond as a free agent July 1st 2018. The Wild sent Hammond to the minors where he played the 2018-19 season with the American Hockey League Iowa Wild. 

Hammond played last year with the Buffalo Sabres & American Hockey League Rochester Americans. Hammond went 16-12-5 in 33 games with the Americans posting a 2.81 GAA

Hammond played four years at Bowling Green University before signing his first professional contract with the Ottawa Senators March 20th 2013. Hammond made his NHL debut February 27th 2014 vs Detroit. Hammond picked up his first career NHL victory February 18th 2015 making 42 saves in a 4-2 win over Montreal. 

Hammond played parts of two seasons in Vernon (2007-2009). The Vipers acquired Hammond from the Surrey Eagles during the 2007-08 season. In 52 games with the Vipers, Hammond went 33-15-1 with 6 shutouts.
