BCHL Suspends Season Start | Vernon Vipers
These new restrictions for the 19/20 yr old junior hockey players is ridiculous. So these kids billet together, go to school together, drive to the rink together, sit together and watch game film and have coaches meetings, but they can't skate on the same ice/practice with the younger kids? I'm all for the health and safety of the players, coaches, teams etc but this is ridiculous! I really feel for the owners who have already taken a huge hit having no fans and some teams with no sponsors etc only managed to get in some exhibition games, may not see a regular season this year.
ReplyDeleteGlobal news was in Penticton the other day and covered the Vees practice. The 19/20 yr olds were in the stands watching practice as everyone else on the team was on the ice along with the coaches. They talked to Fred Harbinson and Chris Hebb. Both said they agree health and safety come first but the restrictions/new rules are a little bit too much.
With cases rising daily and coming up to the middle of December, it will be interesting if we even see a regular season this winter and teams will be forced to wait until the fall for the 2021-22 season.
I have heard some teams have already sent all players home.
Probably will no more by January if any kind of season is on the table. If it is on the table it probably will not have fans in the stands in which case I will pay for Hockey TV on cable. I think I will wait until a comment is made thru the media if the players will have a season before I buy a package to watch on TV. Go,Vipers,Go.
