now,is he really a Vernon Viper or is he just on loan from the Saskatoon Blades?
ReplyDeletenow,is he really a Vernon Viper or is he just on loan from the Saskatoon Blades?
ReplyDeleteI suspect that MacInnes is just a loan because he's only 18 and has at least next season with the WHL. Bafaro is a 20 year old and I suspect that he could be in Vernon permanently for the season. He has a lot of scholarship time already in the WHL. And he's from Kamloops so Mom and Dad can come and watch him play his final year in junior.
ReplyDeleteI also notice that Rainville's name is no longer on the Viper's roster on the BCHL site. I hope that some of the guys on the reserve roster are ready to play.
ReplyDeleteI was a little surprised by this signing. I don't think goaltending is the Vipers problem this season so far. The Snakes went with two young goaltenders who have played very well this pre-season. I was very surprised the Vipers didn't go out and acquire a veteran 20 yr old goaltender over the summer. MacInnes had very good numbers with the Blades last year, but he's only 18 and will probably make his way back to the Western Hockey League at some point, weather it's this year or next year. If Vernon thought goaltending was an issue, why not go out and bring in a 20 yr old netminder? I can't see the Snakes going with three goaltenders, somebody will have to go and looking at the three goaltenders, I think Kobe Grant will be the odd man out. Not because he has played poorly but I think Roan Clarke has been the better of the two goaltenders and deserved the starting job over the two.
ReplyDeleteBoth of the young goalies have played well to date, Tough ask of young goalies getting their feet wet, playing in this division. 3 of the Vipers 20yr old listed goalies are Americans ( Herbst/ Porter/ Karki) Perhaps the Border was a issue with the 20's ?
ReplyDeleteI heard Karki and Porter are playing in the WHL. I asked around and heard Herbst wanted to play in the States but can’t get a release
ReplyDeleteI have heard Karki's rights are with the Winnipeg Ice but have yet to come across any information on that other then hear say. Porter Jr is with the Spokane Chiefs where he played last year but is currently playing with the Wenatchee Wild right now.
