On This Day In Vernon Vipers History:

Eleven years ago today (April 7th 2009) The Vipers returned home looking
to grab a 3-0 series lead in the BCHL League Finals after taking the first two games in Powell River. Connor Jones, Kellen Jones & Sahir Gill all had two point nights, but it wasn't enough as Jordan Grant scored at 4:05 of overtime, giving the visiting Powell River Kings a 3-2 overtime win cutting the Vipers series lead to 2-1. Vernon outshot Powell River 29-26 Carsen Chubak made 27 saves in the win, while Andrew Hammond made 23 saves in the loss in front of 2,203 fans at the Wesbild Centre. The Vipers would eventually win the series 4-2 winning the Fred Page Cup for a tenth time in franchise history.
