On this day in Vernon Vipers history (March, 19th 2005) In Game 2 of the second round of the BCHL playoffs in the best of seven series vs the Penticton Vees, Vernon Vipers forward Matt Swerhone scored at 7:00 of double overtime giving the hometown Vipers a 1-0 double overtime victory over the visiting Penticton Vees in front of 2,423 fans at Vernon's Multi-Plex. Vernon outshot Penticton 44-27 Jon Olthuis stopped all 27 shots for the win/shutout, while Corey Milan stopped 43 shots in the loss. The Vipers took a 2-0 series lead, would eventually sweep the series 4-0 advancing to the Interior division finals vs the Prince George Spruce Kings.
