Transaction Alert! – Vipers Add Dawson Holt from WHL

October 15, 2019

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers are very pleased to announce the addition of 20 year old Dawson Holt from the WHL.

The Saskatoon product spent last 4 seasons with the Vancouver Giants, but spent 8 games this season with the Regina Pats.

Having coached Dawson before, Jason McKee says he can play in all situations.

“He’s a right handed forward with a very high hockey IQ,” says Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee.  “He’s the type of player who’s game really ramps up as the season goes along.”

Holt is 5’11, 194lbs and is a veteran of 237 career games.

Dawson will be in the lineup with his new team Wednesday when they travel to Merritt to take on the Centennials.

  1. So here’s the answer to why the Vipers traded Doug Scott. It was to open up a 20 year spot for Holt. Jason McKee has coached him previously & knows what he will bring to the team. I really like this pick up. Go Vipers Go!!!

  3. After doing a little research, Holt isn't that big and hasn't really put up big numbers in the Western Hockey League. His biggest point total was thirty four points with the Vancouver Giants in the 2017-18 season. After reading several different articles on Holt, it sounds like he's very well liked by his team mates and will bring experience and leadership to the Vipers. I like that Jason McKee coached Holt in Vancouver and knows all about him and what he brings to the team.

With the addition of Holt this puts the Vipers number of twenty yr olds to six which is the league limit and puts the Vipers to the league limit 23 man roster.

Are the Vipers done making trades? Or will we see more roster moves?
