The 2-1-0-0 Defending Interior Division Champion Vernon Vipers are coming off a 3-2 shootout victory in Wenatchee Saturday, return home after a three game road trip. Tonight is the Vipers home opener and the first game of a three game home stand. Tonight is also the first game of three straight vs teams from the Island Division (Powell River, Victoria & Cowichan). The Vipers will unveil new home jerseys tonight as well as raise the Interior Division Championship banner to the rafters. The Snakes only won twelve games at home last season, went 12-11-5-2 on home ice last year. Vipers fans will only see there hometown team nine times in the first three months, as Vernon plays nineteen of there first twenty five games on the road. The Vipers have three home games in September, three home games in October and three home games in November. Jackson Caller will make his Vipers debut tonight, was released by the Western Hockey League's Kamloops Blazers Tuesday, before signing with the Snakes. Caller will wear #5 on the Vipers blueline. Forward Connor Sleeth will be out of the lineup, serving his one game suspension.

The 2-2-0-0 Defending Island Division Champion Victoria Grizzlies make their first and only regular season visit to Kal Tire Place, are coming off a 3-2 overtime victory Sunday afternoon in West Kelowna. The Grizzlies started the 2019-20 regular season on the road. Tonight's the fifth game of a seven game road trip. The Grizzlies home opener isn't until September 28th vs the visiting Powell River Kings. Tonight is the first of two games vs the Vipers this season. The last time the Grizzlies were in Vernon, the Grizzlies won 6-5 in a shootout November 18th 2018. These two teams will meet again November 1st in Victoria.
