Swiss hockey club Thurgau announced Thursday that it has signed former Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Quinnipiac forwards Connor and Kellen Jones for 2019-20.

“It’s definitely a big change,” Connor Jones said, “but we’re both looking forward to the challenge.”

Connor Jones departs Bridgeport after four seasons after playing 244 games for the Sound Tigers, seventh in team history and the most among any who arrived on a professional tryout.

He was one of only four Sound Tigers to take part in this year’s playoffs and the team’s last postseason appearance in 2016.

Kellen Jones played in Sweden last season, the second time in four years that the twins played in separate organizations.

“We had some good talks with the coach,” Connor Jones said. “It was a good opportunity for us to get back together.”

Kellen had been part of the Sound Tigers organization the previous two seasons, playing 88 games for Bridgeport, 58 of them in 2016-17.

The twins helped Quinnipiac to the 2013 NCAA final, in which the Bobcats lost to Yale.

  3. Connor & Kellen Jones are two of the most dedicated, hard working, skilled & exciting players Vipers fans have ever seen play in Vernon. I will never forget the year, they were called up during the playoffs along with David Robinson. The Vees didn't have an answer for the line of the Jones & Robinson, as those three were unstoppable as they put the Vipers on there back and help win the series. These three young kids took over that series and gave Penticton all kinds of trouble. The Vipers should retire Connor & Kellen Jones jersey's and should have years ago.
