Mayhem Release 2019-20 Protected List

May 13, 2019

The Mayhem have announced their 2019-20 protected list, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Leo Thomas announced today.

The protected list consists of Kevin Entmaa, Jake Faiella, Nick Minerva, Zach Urban, Marcus Ortiz, Jarret Kup, Jimmy Soper, Danny Cesarz, Shawn Lynch, Derek Sutliffe, Stathis Soumelidis, Dakota Klecha, and Kristaps Bazevics.

The 13 names comprising the Mayhem’s 2019-20 protected list have each made their mark on the organization in recent years, and today have solidified their involvement in the organization’s future. As protected players, they will not sign with another SPHL team unless traded, and they will all be invited to the Mayhem training camp in October.

“We feel this group of players is a good nucleus for next season,” Mayhem General Manager Blair Floyd said. “It highlights some veterans, along with some rookies who really impressed us this year.”

A goaltender, five defensemen, and seven forwards make up the team’s protected list, who promise to serve as a core group of returners to lead the team in the immediate future. Coach Thomas is confident in the group he has selected in their ability to guide the Mayhem going forward.

“Based on our exit meetings with the players and getting an idea of what direction I want to go, I have decided on these 13 players to protect,” Thomas said. “We have a really good core of guys possibly returning from this list and we are also able to talk and pursue players that were left off the protected list during offseason. We look forward to having some of them, along with some of the newly recruited players who are hungry and want to prove themselves in camp and push guys out the door.”

Details regarding the 2019-20 season can be found on the Mayhem website, maconmayhem.com, and will be posted throughout the summer on Mayhem social media. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube for the latest updates.
