Defenceman Ryan MacLean
June 4, 2019
Vernon, BC: Defenceman Ryan MacLean has committed to the Vipers for 2019-20. He attributes his decision to the “highly professional-run Vipers spring camp” and to the “honesty and professionalism displayed by Coach McKee.”
Ryan, a 6 foot, 175 pound native of North Vancouver, has played the last two years at the West Van Academy prep school. During the 2018-19 season, he registered 5 goals and 21 assists in 34 games in the highly competitive CSSHL, which includes teams in Alberta and British Columbia.
Ryan describes himself as “a 200 foot player, playing hard at both ends of the ice.” He says he prides himself on “a good first pass out of the zone” and his communication on the ice. “I’m a talker,” he says, “which is something that Coach (Steve) Marr preaches. He also stresses that we need to be highly competitive; there are no battles that you can’t win if you really stick your nose in there.”
Ryan MacLean also has praise for conditioning guru Ryan Kerr, with whom he’s currently working in the gym, along with the Vipers’ Josh Latta.
Viper fans will be happy to know that Ryan relishes opportunities to be involved in the community. He has made a point of volunteering and being involved in community events and looks forward to meeting Viper fans and other members of the Vernon community.
Ryan MacLean's Player Profile:
I like the sounds of Ryan MacLean not only do I like his size but I like the sounds of his maturity. For an 18 yr old he speaks very well of himself and the Vipers organization. This tells me he was brought up in a good/strong family with family values. Let's see what this young man can do at training camp in August.
ReplyDeleteThe past three days the Vipers have now got three commitments from three new recruits. With the possible fourteen players returning from last year's Vipers team, there wont be too many open roster spots come training camp in August.
Thanks to the Vipers for making these announcements over the off season and keeping us the fans updated with the up coming new players and team. A special thanks to Don Klepp for the "departing heroes" write ups on the Vipers website. Very much liked and much appreciated.
