WCHA Release

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – On Thursday, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced that sophomore forward Steven Jandric was named to the All-WCHA Third Team, while freshman defenseman Chris Jandric was named to the All-WCHA Rookie Team. Furthermore, 16 of Alaska's 18 returning players were selected to the WCHA's All-Academic Team for 2018-19, including 11 repeat honorees.

S. Jandric becomes the first Alaska hockey player to garner an All-WCHA honor in back-to-back years since Tyler Morley ('16) following the 2015-16 season, while C. Jandric becomes the second Nanook to appear on the WCHA's All-Rookie team since his brother Steven did last season.

The  all-conference teams are nominated and voted on by each of the 10 head coaches in the WCHA. Points are awarded on a five-point (First Team vote), three-point (Second Team vote), and one-point (Third Team vote) basis, while the WCHA's All-Rookie team is determined by total votes received. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players and the league only takes into account statistics during conference play.

S. Jandric was one of only two players from the 2017-18 WCHA All-Rookie Team to earn an All-WCHA honor this season. S. Jandric led Alaska in almost every offensive category throughout league play, including goals (8), points (21), points per games played (0.75), power play assists (8), power play points (11), game-winning goals (3), plus (18) and tied for first in assists (13) and power play goals (3).

The sophomore also accumulated six game-winning points (three GWG, three GWA), with two of them coming in overtime. The eldest Jandric brother picked up five multi-point games this season, tying his single-game career-high three points on Feb. 16 against Bowling Green. S. Jandric also tallied two, three-game point streaks throughout the season and concluded the 2018-19 campaign on a four-game point streak, picking up five points (three goals, two assists).
