Great win boys don't let up for Prince George this one's gonna be a challenge
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the Vernon Vipers and their entire organization on winning there 17th Interior division championship in franchise history. This is the Vipers first Interior division championship since 2014. After a very shaky opening period I think the Vipers were very lucky to only be down 1-0 after the 1st period. What a turn around come the middle frame as the Snakes looked and played like a completely different hockey team. Vernon responds with three second period goals on just ten shots, take a two goal lead into the 3rd and then shutdown the Wild in there own rink, hold on to the 3-1 victory to take the series 4-1 will now advance to the league finals vs the Coastal Conference champion Prince George Spruce Kings. Vernon & Prince George will meet in the playoffs for the eighth time and first time since the 2005-06 season/playoffs. Vernon is 7-0 vs Prince George in the playoffs, have never lost to the Spruce Kings in the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteI'm still in shock the Vipers are playing in the league finals. If you would have told me this back in November/December I would have laughed. Back In November/December I thought the Vipers wouldn't get out of the 1st round of the playoffs and be lucky to win a game. Vernon has been the hottest team since the Christmas break going from 7th in the Interior division to finishing 4th only six points back of 3rd place Wenatchee. The Vipers had a ton of injuries and suspensions but I still didn't think this team would go far in the playoffs. Full marks go to Mark Ferner, Kevin Kraus and Larry Draper and of course the players for believing, playing as a team & coming together at the right time of the year.
Go Vipers Go!
Who would have thought this was going to happen before Christmas with what this team had gone through. The Vipers have always been a second half team and these young men proved it. We are so proud of you guys and hope the Vernon people will come out and cheer you on when Prince George comes to town. GO VIPERS GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
